Alessandro Buccolieri was born in 1976. He obtained the school-leaving certificate in Chemistry in 1995; in 2001 he achieved the doctor's degree in Chemistry at the University of Bari, Italy and in 2007 he received his Ph.D. from the University of Salento, Italy. Since April 1, 2003 he works as Chemical Laboratory Technician at the University of Salento. He carries out his research activity in the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles and analysis in environmental chemistry, cultural heritage, materials science and food chemistry. The analytical techniques mainly used are: UV-visible spectrophotometry, Raman spectroscopy, ion chromatography, X-ray fluorescence energy dispersive, atomic emission spectroscopy inductively coupled plasma, absorption spectroscopy atomic, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.
He performed non-destructive analysis on several works of historical and artistic interest, and in particular on Michelangelo's David and on the Riace Bronzes.
He was chosen as Reviewer by several scientific Journals and he is one of the Editorial Board Members of several scientific Journals.
